Tacking down some plans!

January 25th, 2010

Rodney and I have finally sat down and discussed some things relevant to our wedding! Our colors are officially champagne and latte, and we're thinking about accenting with a little pear green. We've talked about a guest list and have narrowed it down to 64 people including ourselves. We'd rather have an intimate affair so that's just family and close family friends!
Being that I am my mothers child, and the most crafty of all my sisters (sadly), I've figured out a way to make a beautiful centerpiece with a coffee can, ribbon in our colors, white hydrangeas, pussy willows, votives, and the infamous hot glue gun! Also, the Dollar Tree website will give you free shipping on bulk orders of things such as the votive candles and candle holders, vases, flatware, wine glasses etc. With 64 people that means we only need about 8 round tables to hold 8 people each! Don't worry, we're not going to do assigned seating for tables. Sit with who you want.

We have also narrowed down a date! We are truly thinking about our families and the cost for each of them to travel out to Tennessee. With that said, we are weighing our options for a Virginia wedding. Not to mention I miss home very much =) So our date is March 17th, 2011!
March is an off peak time of the year to get married and is in most cases saves a pretty penny or two, which I am TICKLED about. It is also a Thursday, which will save even more money. We understand it may be a lot for many people to take off of work for a weekend and be pressed for time to drive (if we're doing this shindig here in Tennessee) attend the wedding, spend some time if any with us, and head back home for work on Monday. Therefore, we're allowing ample time for everyone to reach home whether they need to leave early or can stay all weekend.

Taxes are finally here! That means we can finally starting putting a budget together and work ourselves out of debt! Depending on how much we get back, I'm off to officially purchase my dress! Because Sydney will be growing a bit more within the next year, we are holding off on her flower girl dress for a little while longer. My dress is $1050.00 at Davids Bridal and I'm getting it on sale for $750.00. The dress is fabulous and I'm so in love with it. The consultant I worked with told me that the designer will sometimes discontinue the dress style so I am doing everything possible to get it! The rest is for Sydney!

Well that's a big update from where we were a few days ago. Stay tuned for more.

By the way, Sydney had her 10th tooth come in today! I don't know if I'm ready for that little tooth just yet-she bit me for the first time the other day. And trust me, the 9 she had in her mouth was enough for my wrist! Rodney offered to rush off to the pet store and buy a muzzle for her. He thinks it's funny until it happens to him. I hope it doesn't, but if it does,well..... we will see when we get there! =)

Follow Our Family

January 23, 2010

Welcome to our blog page where hopefully you can remain up to date on all things happening in the Stalvey-Treat residence. A dear friend of ours recommended this site to us, so thank you Nicole, we will try to update everyone on as much as possible as soon as possible.

Learn about us:

As most everyone knows by now, Rodney and I met in high school in Newport News, Virginia. We went to school together and eventually worked together at the local Outback Steakhouse there. Outback is where our love blossomed!

After graduation we both uprooted and moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. Rodney first in November 2006 then I followed in June 2007. We found out that we were pregnant the day after Christmas 2007 and ended up delivering a month early. Sydney Cathryn Treat was born on July 9th, 2008. She was 5 pounds 4 ounces and 19 inches long. I did not have such an easy delivery. Because of something called HELLP Syndrome, I fought to keep myself healthy and alive while Rodney took care of his baby girl.

15 months later, on my 21st birthday, Rodney proposed to me at the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, North Carolina. Sydney spent the day with her paternal grandparents (Dawn and Brian Claflin) while Rodney and I did a little wine tasting and enjoyed ourselves.

After much debate, we are closing in on an official wedding date. Start clearing your calenders in March 2011 to join us as we celebrate our union. We will update everyone as soon as the day is decided upon. We are looking at places in Tennessee as well as Virginia to host our ceremony and reception.

The holidays have come and gone so what's new?

This was Sydney's second Christmas, and much more of a treat than the first. Santa was very nice to her this year. It is now January and she is 18 months old, 20lbs and 10oz, and 30in long! As you can tell she has grown so much since birth just over a year ago. While Rodney is the Assistant Kitchen Manager at Outback here in Knoxville, and I am their Training Coordinator and Headwait, Sydney is learning her alphabet and numbers, is potty training, and singing to Elmo, Barney, and the Little Mermaid. Rodney and I work opposite schedules so we come and go with Sydney all day and take the normal Wednesday off to have time to be with each other. If you ever need to reach the both of us, call on Wednesdays or 1am-3am. (Sadly we are normally up at this time).

As if life wasn't hectic enough, we're planning a wedding on top of that! So with that said, we will try to update everyone on what we are doing to take care of ourselves and the future.
